Question For The Readers [Live Chats]

by boh3m3 on Dec.02, 2008, under Site-Related

So I’m pondering doing live chats every week on BlogTV, since I’m out of a job and they have an ad revenue setup. I doubt it will be enough to do much with, but every bit helps. So my question to you is, how would you feel about that?

    What an excellent idea, Ben!

We all know that you prefer Stickam over BlogTV and ustream.tv, but I have been a regular user of BlogTV since May 2008 and that place could use a smart, funny guy like you. The possibilities are limitless!

Also, to the people that say you never do rants anymore; at BlogTV you can tear them a new one - live, unedited and-in-their-faces.

To be honest, I think you’d find weekly to be a bit of a stretch. Start out with fortnightly (hey America, why haven’t you adopted that word yet! It’s THE BEST WORD!) at first, and see how that goes. But in general I’m in favour of more as they’re always good fun…

Although, out of consideration for UK types, could they be made any earlier? Seriously. You’re shitting with my sleep patterns. ;)

golden rule: if you do something regulary and too often, people wont show up anymore in big numbers pretty soon. there might be a core group of people though, which will show up every time.

i guess you will have that core group, so once you know how large it is, you can decide if it pays off to do the chats often or not.

to increase incentive .. doing the chats on different days at different times could help. when people cant join every chat .. it becomes valuable to join the one which fits their schedule. it also prevents too many people coming to one chat while leaving the next one empty .. and thus making it more interesting to join again.

in the long run, interest will probably become low in any case, but once you have a job you will be busy anyway. so it makes sense to do chats more often now … and exhaust the potential more quickly.

awesome. the live chats are kind of a way to get the old ranting boh3m3 out instead of the new sophisticate haberdashery boh3m3. looking foward do scheduled chats.

Chef, holy shit, look after your lady. I’ll pray. x

I think you should make it a monthly endeavor to be honest. I value your writing and wouldn’t want to impede on that progress, but you should still do whatever you want.

And by the way Evan, there’s nothing wrong with sophistication ;) .

    She’s fine now…they thought it was more serious than what it was. She had some hot doctor named Tyler, so now she wants to me cut my hair, straighten it, and highlight it -_-;
They let her eat McDonald’s, at least.
Ironically, we watched Scrubs and House while we were there.
Quite a few people came in to see her, and doctors commented on what a “love fest” we had going on.
AND NOW MSN WON’T WORK! =D

@joiywtj: Good to hear that the significant other is okay - Hospitals suck and please pay more attention to her. Okay?

@Thiefree: The word ‘fortnightly’ will forever be a foreign word to our North American ears. :)

Actually, the whole OD thing was my fault, OzBro. I DO pay attention to her, but thanks.
One of her doctors had her taking four pills a day, and she’d been getting headaches. We’d never had a problem with her taking something for her headaches before…so I gave her something. She began to lose all of the color in her skin, her breathing/heart rate quickened, and she started shaking…violently. We first went to her doctor (we actually thought it was just her body relieving itself of the medication by burning calories), who decided to take her off all four of the medications until Thursday, when we’d start easing her back into maybe…two of them. Then, the doctor told us to head over to the ER. We sat in the waiting room of the ER for a half hour, while her shaking got worse (as in, now it was so bad that she couldn’t even walk with my support). When they took us in, they told us it was potentially fatal, if it was what they thought it was, they took two vials of blood, a urine sample, and put us into a private room. I called up quite a few people, not including her parents, and we watched Scrubs while complaining about how bad the cafeteria food tasted.
She started vomiting up blood, but that was quickly taken care of. Around one in the morning, they finally said she would be fine to take home at about noon today, and so I went home to get sleep before work and school. But, rather than sleep, I stayed up, cried, and drank myself sick. :D
Now Ally is asleep in my bed, with some GOOD food in her stomach…and I’m scared shitless she’s going to blame me as much as I blame myself.

Oh, darling… get on MSN when you can. <3

  16. Andy

Wow, this is great news. I was always really down about not being there in your Stickcam days so some live chat action would be totally sweet.

I’m working on it. :D I just have to get the job rolling so I can figure out a broadcast schedule. Could be a few weeks.
