Haberdashery Episode 2

… The Trouble With Toby
Pre-order a shirt!
Whew! So much easier than last time. I don’t know if some of you realized it, but the reason it was a bit sketchy was because I was learning the program and that it was my first cartoon. This time around, the whole process was much more streamlined, much less frustrating, and hopefully more sound in the pacing and humor.
Of course, this one is more plot driven, which some people might see as a deviation from the first one. This is a mistake, because the first was really more about getting the random bits I had in my head out instead of making a huge plot.
This episode is more on track with how I’ll be doing things; the way I see it is Family Guy already has the flashbacks mastered, so I need to make something with more of a plot instead of hinging on that formula for my humor.
Thanks for watching,
-B

Hm. I swear Walthamstone was Englisher in ep1.
It was good, but I voted for ‘I preferred ep1′ because it feels like you’re trying to make sense out of something better suited for surrealism. However, that’s an inevitable part of the learning curve, and as you settle into this new medium it’ll start to feel more like it’s own thing. Developing your style takes time and practise.
Merriweather is adorable. Good acting from all concerned, again, and I loved Dr. Graft! The voice quality kept changing, but I know that that’s a consequence of budget.
Anyway. I look forward to ep3! Do you have an ending in mind already or is the plot evolving as it goes?

Hey… It’s Artie!
The scene by the pond is priceless.

TheeTheThateh-
Me too- the duck gets it! Love the pond.
So much more elaborate than the first one. Wonderful! A total scream with the steampunk wheelchairs.
The doc’s head flipping open caught me off guard and I gave a big impolite horselaugh in an inappropriate public venue :)

Anyone choosing the second vote button (shizzle) OBVIOUSLY misread it to mean “that was THE shit”. Gotta watch the street speech with the kiddies ;)

Fantastic stuff.
Dr.Graft scared the hell out of me at first. After that it was just hilarious.
Can’t wait for episode 3. :D

I voted I preferred ep. 1 also, some how the tempo of this vid was a bit too rushed. I think thats why the first one was so unique, it was a “vintage speed” but modern flavor and thats what had a shock about it. I don’t know if that makes sense but its still an awesome amount of creativity and hard work. Just seemed a bit too much content in that frame of time. Mmmmm men that purr… ^_^ *lol*

I think there are too many characters, so its a bit confusing, but that may be just me…

I actually really enjoyed this one as well. I really like details, so I don’t mind learning about who Toby is, what he’s made of, how he was made, etc. It does make for a funny plot.
Do you need to feed Leah chicken heads as well? Judging by her picture in the ending credits, she seemed a bit lacking. Be a good man and get them to her (unless she was just off of her medication…in which case…hide)!
On a side note; Leah is oh so beautiful. Spectacular smile. My girlfriend wants to know if Leah is into chicks…so…
Mleh. >:(

Absolutely no complaints from me about these eccentric adventures of Walthamstone and friends - it’s charming in its absurdity!
The place where these characters reside; is it like a veteran’s hospital and are there ramps for them to freely come and go? I also noticed that Dr. Graft’s face is utilized in the Haberdashery intro; is he the doctor (madman?) responsible for the Steampunk-styled appendages?
Overall, this series is getting better and better!

I loved the pond scene and the ending, nicely done. I look forward to episode three. Great work.

Well, from this point, I think it’s clear that Ben is referencing the increasing cyborgism of modern humans. We have become so reliant on our technology that we feel naked without it, despite the fact that, as Ben so adeptly pointed out, it ‘bites the hand that feeds it’ by removing our freedoms and our privacy.
Bullshit, or dead insightful? You decide!

Thiefree=very insightful
It was fantastish! I liked how your voiced characters have more of their own speech mannerisms than in the first, and Brandon did a smashing good job on the doctor albeit I’ll admit frightening yet still grotesquely funny all at the same time.
Cheerios! (Honey Nut variety =D)

bloody good show old chap, another great episode in the bag. I love they actually fit Mearywaether with a bell.
Bit of a wiener fest though. Any female characters being planned?
Thiefree: bullshit. But the tasty, nutty kind.

Well done Ben! Great follow-up - I like it with a bit more of a plot - it’s like your writing, once you start telling the story I’m hooked. If you can mix in the bizarre and absurd with a plot, all the better.
Just one thing I’d like cleared up, when Hathaway tells the joke to Walthamstone at the start, does Walthamstone say ‘petunias’?

I liked it, but for some reason not as much as the last episode. I think its because everyone was, as Thiefree put it, “Englishier”. Aside from that, it was great :) I look forward to episode 3.

Mmm…Honey Nut Cheerios.
I can’t really look at them the same way, since I learned from a bee-farming friend that honey is basically bee throw up, or bee shit.
*cringe*

Well, in the same way that silk is silkworm shit and pearls are grit covered in mucus, yes.

I’ve been rewatching both episodes a lot lately, and the more I watch them the more I see the potential for more episodes. I loved it from the beginning, but didn’t really ‘get’ it… well now I do, and I sincerely hope that there’s an ep3 somewhere down the line.
Pleeeease, B?
