The Amercian economy is tanking faster than Mr. Belding in a room full of showgirls. Millions of jobs lost, banks getting the taxpayer’s money (yet again), and FDR is laughing sadly in his grave. I, being the upright and proactive citizen, decided to do nothing about it aside from make a video saying random crap as if I know the first thing about economics.

Obama has a lot to face. If they somehow manage to get him removed from office because of some trumped up charges we are all fucked. Hard. I saw that cover of Newsweek or Time, can’t recall. Read the article, and Obama is busting his ass to make his transition smooth so he can get down to real business. I can’t wait to see what he has in store. I don’t think we will regret choosing him. Hope is huge, and the people who don’t think so aren’t thinking at all. Great vid!

i know its kinda hard to get to that point … but maybe you could try to reconsider your perception of “hope”. think about what you said concerning beeing happy to have a minimum wage job in these times. there is a connection, as both are driven by fear and desperation.
enabled by these emotional states some of the worlds best known dictatorships have arisen … abusing hope as a mean to gain cooperation from the population. when people are stuck in emotions, their ability to think properly is reduced significantly.
i know that my argument here is not directly related to what you were talking about, but i got hung up on your positive portrayal of hope, so i had to speak up.

i see our time as a very sick, bizarre joke with a shitty punchline. we need money for education, for health care, and for all sorts of things, and the govt said it was too much. but a bunch of CEOs need 6 billion dollars? suuuure we can afford that. they sold people mortgages they knew they wouldnt be able to afford. they committed highway robbery, and now we’re paying them for it. it’s fucking bonkers. at least it doesnt take a week’s worth of work to drive my car anymore… p.s. your room is very blue.

I think Obama should give tax breaks to companies who bring back jobs from overseas and increase taxes for companies who continue to use cheap labor overseas. It won’t fix everything but I think it would be a great start to getting out economy back on track.

Same wavelength here Ben. Bush was the worst thing that could happen to the US, but he did do some great things for us too (when I say ‘good’ I mean someone to make fun of in this case). Like realizing how important the President can be in a nation of ‘Democracy’ in regards to voting for something we don’t understand thanks to the plethora of words describing ‘nothing’ in a sense. The fact is we’re like the camp fire for a S’more (not needed for functional purposes) and half the time when we do speak we’re not heard (disregarding the fact that half of us are mentally retarded). It seems as though Obama can be our ‘voice of reason’ with fingers and toes crossed, but we should cross genitalia too just in case.

First off: Office Space rules. Hard. Nice impression too (certainly better than your Dubya!)
A lot of things might suffer in the recession, but eating out is as good as it ever was. EXCELSIOR! hehehehe.
See, while people might go on fewer holidays and might not go to restaurants as much, other forms of entertainment are gonna BOOM. Cinemas are profiting, television viewing figures will soar, and I suspect internet-based entertainment will see increased popularity as well. Why? Because we need a way OUT of this mess, and sheer escapism is a hell of a lot quicker and easier than a real solution.
It’s cool that you’re back in touch with old friends, how did that happen?

I just saw the video and I agree with you on all the points. I’m really sorry Americans are so much in debt because of a stupid war which never should have been fought in the first place. However, I’ll say that it is your duty, ethically or even morally to pump money into Iraq. Iraq was pretty much fine before the war, but now if America leaves it’ll just get fucked and to do that to a whole nation is just wrong.
In any case, nice video, you raised very good points.

Over here in Britain, we’re as pissed off as you are; we elected what was supposed to be a socialist party into government. What did they do when the shit hit the fan? They scraped it off the bankers’ faces, gave them a spit polish……and dumped it on us. Gordon Brown, who for so long was actually a pretty decent politician, has fucked us. And fucked you - seeing as he decided it was his “duty” to get the rest of the world to bail out their banks as well.
If you really want to get informed, read The Shock Doctrine by Namoi Klein. After John Cusack shouted about it for months and months in his blog, I finally went out and bought it…and its mind-blowing how Milton Friedman economics, and a belief in the purity of the free market, has irrepairable damaged the planet. Read it….and boy, will you have something to rant about.
